Michigan Summer EBT: $120 for Eligible Children – Apply for Food Assistance Now!

The Office of Nutrition Services (ONS) is excited to share that Governor Whitmer signed the School State Aid budget on July 23, 2024. It includes funding to continue free breakfasts and lunches for the upcoming school year through the Michigan School Meals Program. Michigan School Meals will run as it did this past year.

We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to return their Application for Summer EBT and Education Benefits with the Michigan School Meals Program. Completing this application takes less than10 minutes and can help students receive important resources. Questions you may have include:

· Michigan Summer EBT is a new program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Children who get Michigan Summer EBT can still participate in other summer meal programs. Receiving Michigan Summer EBT will not affect children or families’ immigration status.

· Is my child eligible for Michigan Summer EBT? Your child is eligible for Michigan Summer EBT if: • Your household already participates in SNAP, FDPIR, TANF, and MA programs OR • Your child attends a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, and your household income meets the requirements for free or reduced-price school meals.

Every application that is not submitted means lost educational programs and resources for our students.

Filling out the application may help provide:

– Healthy and Wellness Services

– Before and After School Academic and Enrichment programs

– Guidance and College Counselors

– Fee Waivers for College Applications and Admissions Tests

– Resources for classrooms, teachers and Children.
